Have you ever gone on vacation and spent your days trying to find out how to get from point A to point B? Rent a car. Ever been in an accident and been without your car for a week while its in the shop? Rent a car. Car rental companies are successful, and will continue to be successful, for one reason and one reason alone… convenience. The convenience of being able to rent a car whilst on vacation and save yourself the high costs associated with opting for taxi after taxi; save yourself the inconvenience of learning new and foreign public transportation schedules; save yourself time to get the most out of every moment of your vacation instead of scrambling to find a way to get where you're going.

Domestically, most car rental companies require the renter to be 25 years of age, however they will generally allow 21-24 year olds to rent as long as they pay a higher fee. These ages are different at foreign locations, where the age requirement is generally younger than the domestic level of 25.

The cost of renting a car can be somewhat expensive, dependent on the type of car you choose to rent, the duration with which you choose to rent it, and the amount of insurance you wish to purchase. That is to say that it would be cheaper to rent a Volvo for a week than it would be to rent a Porsche for a week. You could expect to pay more to insure the Porsche as opposed to the Volvo too. There are other smaller things that can affect the cost of renting a car as well; such things as the amount of insurance you want to be covered by, the number of drivers you wish to insure, the location at which you are renting, etc. Taking the fluctuating total costs of car rental into consideration, it still offers a convenience that's worth cannot simply be judged by its cost.
